Thursday, November 20, I got full. This time it only took me 13 days to feel full. You don't even know the rejoicing that happened in our house!! Days 1-6 I feel nauseaous so I don't eat any more than I have to. Days 7-11 my taste buds are so bad that I cannot eat anything. I think this time I ate 1000 calories over 3 days. Days 12-13 my mouth is too dry to eat anything. It's a vicious cycle. But guess what?! I don't have to do it anymore!!!
As Scarlett O'Hara says, "I'm going to live through this and when it's all over, I will never be hungry again." That was my mantra during hungry days.
Thursday night before #6 we headed to Don Jose's to fill up on fajitas. My mom brought this awesome yard decoration to celebrate! Our yard was the brightest one in the neighborhood!
So, after we got home I started gathering my bags for chemo and folding laundry. I noticed that my left foot was feeling a little weird so I looked down. My feet and ankles had started swelling and they were getting bigger and bigger. We called the doctor's line and a few minutes later (at 9:30 pm) Dr. Blum called us back and said it was a side effect of the taxotere. She said it usually starts towards the end and I'll have to deal with it for a while. Since then, it went down for a while but last Thursday it started again and I haven't been able to get them under control. The compression socks are the devil! But I know they're working. My feet are really painful in the afternoons and night after I've been on them a good bit. I can't wait to be able to wear boots again!
Friday, November 7 was my last chemo day. My labs were at 8:00 am so I got to see Betty bright and early! And I had to get a selfie!
Next we headed to see Dr. Blum. I had lots of questions about next steps for her. She finally told me that we would talk about everything later. The results of the second phase of the SOFT trial will be out in early December so we'll be able to use the information to plan out my maintenance. We'll meet with her in December when the pathology report comes back.
Last cool cap ever!!! So happy!!
Daddy came on Sunday as always and took me to work for the last time on the Wednesday after chemo.
He also made sure we were fed.
Saturday was the first day I haven't been nauseated in a while. My body is trying really hard to get over chemo. I can definetly tell a difference in my energy level, but there are still some lingering side effects. I start my herceptin only treatments tomorrow. They say I won't have any side effects since it's not chemo but I'm nervous anyway! Surgery is Wednesday, so please lift us up in prayer!
