Henderson and I headed to Mississippi the Saturday before Christmas. Of course, we stopped at Marshall Pottery to grab a couple of happier for the moms and I even talked Henderson into going into Shreveport so we could eat at Newk's for lunch.
At one point in the ride, I looked back and found Dixon riding on our luggage. The girls wouldn't allow him on the back seat!
We met Mimi and Van Jr. and the Girls at my favorite Jackson spot - Julep for dinner. Because the weather was so bad, there wasn't much of a crowd. But I got to eat several portobello fries; in case you were wondering, the best part of Mississippi is the food.
Then we headed to the restaurant and had some dessert. Had to have a photo op with Daddy!
Sunday, the 22nd, was Mimi's birthday. We gave her the gift of letting her cook us breakfast. :) The gift that keeps on giving! Henderson grabbed this shot of her with Dixon and Silver (Mimi pronounces it Sil-va with her deep southern drawl). She was loving the doggie attention!
That afternoon we headed north and before we got to Eupora, we stopped at Wendy's house in Vaiden to have a cookie exchange and to see all of her beautiful Christmas decorations.
Preston didn't know what to say about Henderson.
Sunday night we had our annual Christmas Compound party, but unfortunately I didn't take any pictures.
Monday and Tuesday we hung around Starkville, hit up Oby's for lunch, and just relaxed at Mama's before the whirlwind of Christmas began.
I created this cute branch tree with some of her Christmas cards.
Tuesday night (Christmas Eve), we went over to Aunt Janet's for BBQ. We were going to leave early Christmas day to head to Alabama so we wanted to see all the family before we left. Afterwards, I made everyone pose in front of the Christmas tree. :)
Sunday, we all woke up bright and early to see what Santa brought. It was apparent both in Mississippi and Alabama that since their are no small children in our immediate families that now the parents' pile of presents are larger than the kids!
This loveseat was mine and Henderson's stash. Plus a trailer hitch for Henderson and a fire pit and chiminea for me. In the pile was some McCarty pottery, some makeup, some coffee mugs, and a Pioneer Woman cookbook signed by PW herself!
This table held Mama and Allen's presents. I told you theirs was so much bigger!
Cheyenne's stash was on the couch. She was pumped about everything she got!
Henderson and Allen had to put together the trailer hitch - which was very well used by the time we got back to Texas! I have no idea how we would have gotten everything home without it. Santa did good! Mama packed us some breakfast and sent us on the road to Alabama!
